7 Ways To Create Family Connections

Creating family connections isn’t always easy with our schedules so I thought I would throw out a quick process and a few ideas that will help families connect at least once everyday for the next 7 days.

Number 1

Monday: Just before bedtime, read aloud Ephesians 5:15-16 together as a family; then pray this prayer. “God, help us to be careful with our time. Give us wisdom as a family to know how to make the best use of our time together. Amen”

Number 2

Tuesday: Invite each family member to tell one thing he or she can stop doing to have a better family life pace.

Number 3

Wednesday: Have dinner together and ask each family member, “What were your highs and lows today?”

Number 4

Thursday: Write a separate note to each of your children, letting each child know how much you love him or her. Include the note in each child’s lunch or post each note on the mirror in the bathroom for each child to see. Encourage your kids to write a note back to you.

Number 5

Friday: Collect each family member’s phone and put the phones in a drawer. Spend the next hour playing a board game that gets you all talking.

Number 6

Saturday: As a family, look ahead on your calendar and find a block of time that is at least four hours long. Label the block “Family Time” and block the entire time. Then vote to decide what you will do during that time together.

Number 7

Sunday: Ask each family member, “What one thing can we start doing as a family next week to give us uninterrupted time together?”
