Have you ever felt stuck?
- Mentally Stuck?
- Emotionally Stuck?
- Physically Stuck?
- Socially Stuck?
No movement, no progress in your job, in your parenting, in life? Me too. It’s frustrating to be perfectly honest. I am currently stuck right now. Set 15F from Orange County to Chicago! Buckled down, packed in, no movement...stuck.
Sometimes I feel stuck as a husband, as a father, as a leader, as a communicator and as a writer (ever heard of writers block?) I prefer not to be stuck, in any of these areas especially the first two.
I like to keep moving forward I like the idea of progress. When I get stuck I feel useless and no matter how hard I try I can't seem to get unstuck.
I'm wondering if I am not looking at the problem of being stuck in the right way. Maybe God has something else in mind for me when I get stuck. Maybe he doesn't want me to "fight" my way out, maybe he wants me to rest in my "stuckness." Maybe He wants to teach me, and you, something when life seems to have us pinned down.
Here's a radical concept...Maybe God wants us to feel stuck. Maybe He has lead us to a deserted place so He can work in us, on us and, at a later time, through us.
Listen to what Moses told the Children of Israel as they were stuck, hemmed in and pinned down. All of this right before the Red Sea miracle. Right before life opened up, they were stuck!
“But Moses told the people, Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.” Exodus 14:13 NLT
Moses' 3 Steps To Getting Unstuck
1. Don’t Fear!
2. Stand Still!
3. Watch This!
Being “stuck” is essential before you can move forward. I don’t like sitting, standing or waiting but as it turns out it’s essential before we can make progress.
To maintain a healthy life we must occasionally resist the urge to move forward in our own strength when it’s necessary to stand, wait and watch. “The greatest victory of faith is to stand at the shore of the Red Sea and to hear the Master say, “Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.”
Today, each of us may have to stand firm at the shore of the Red Sea. We may have no other choice but to stand firm and rest in our "stuckness" until God says, "Hey, watch this!" And just then life opens up!
Questions:
1. Do you feel stuck today?
2. If yes, what area are you feeling most stuck? As a parent? As a spouse? As a leader?
3. Are you ready for life to open up to you today?
