How To Find Work-Life Balance In One Step

I have been challenged with a particular phrase. We have all used it at one time or another. A lot of people talk about it, and you have probably overheard it on more than one occasion. If you were to Google this particular phrase, you would find countless pictures and illustrations of it.
Articles, books and blogs have been dedicated to it. The phrase I am talking about is…

“Work-Life Balance”

When I Googled the phrase, the most common illustration I saw was a picture of a scale with the word “Work” on one side and the word “Life” on the other. Just like the picture above.

However, as I have thought through the idea of work-life balance I have some questions. In fact, I flat out disagree with

3 Parenting Strategies I Learned While On The Plane

I am currently cruising at an altitude of 35,000 feet, according to the announcement the captain just made. I have a pretty good view out the left side of the airplane. Scattered clouds, beautiful beach, vast ocean. I often connect dots that appear to have no connection while on a plane and this trip is no exception.

There are a few ideas bouncing around my head but for now I would like to share 3 Parenting Strategies I Learned (While Sitting) on The Plane.

1. Buckle Up

One of the first announcements you here from the flight attendant is to buckle up. The reason? “In the event we experience some turbulence” the

Screens And Our Kids: How Much Is To Much?

“How much screen time is appropriate for my kids?”

I hear that question often and my answer may surprise you. “I don’t know.”

I don’t know because I don’t know their family. I know how much screen time is healthy for my kids because I know their personalities, their commitments their behavior and attitude, the amount of sleep they get as well as face to face friendship time. To me the key is balance.

As each of us attempt to answer the question “How Much Screen Time Is To Much?” let’s think about the following three things so

4 C’s For Raising Polite Kids

At just about every parenting conference I speak at I inevitably get one question and it usually goes something like this. “What should I do when my kids don’t behave the way they are supposed to?” My answer generally includes these four C’s for raising polite kids.

1. Clarity

Setting clear boundaries four our children in advance will help them know where the line is. That does not mean they stay on the right side of the line all the time; it simply means they know where it is. They will not only push a boundary but will exercise their will and cross it. Why? Because it’s their job. If you haven’t defined reasonable boundaries for your kids, how will you know what

3 Ways To Find Your Family Rhythm And Stay In Sync

One of the things I like best about families is that each member is different. We look different, we act different and we’re interested in different things. Each member has his or her own rhythm and beat. In a musical sense, rhythm is “The pattern of musical movement through time.”

I’m sure you have heard someone described as “marching to the beat of his [or her] own drum.” Usually that means the person has an internal beat or rhythm that is different from others. It’s a statement about uniqueness and style.

We have many different instruments in our families. In fact, if you have a bigger family, you have a bigger band! But no matter how many people are in your band the goal is to always keep the rhythm! Why march to the beat of the music playing

Five Phrases We Should Finish Every Day

I have been thinking for a while now about the little things we could do to make a big difference to those we touch every day. This includes our kids, co-workers, friends and those we don’t know but brush by during our daily activity.

How can we get our hearts and heads around living out what God put in? I think an easy reminder for each of us is below. Simply finishing the phrases could put feet to our faith and make a difference in us as well as those around us. With that in mind here are 5 Phrases We Should Finish Every Day.

The Story: Ten Lepers Luke 17:11-19

Cleansed

When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed. Luke 17:14 NASBStr

Cleansed: The Greek word for cleansed is Katharizō which means, “to cleanse: to make clean.” (From Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance) The idea of this word is to wash away a physical stain or dirt. The words is used 17 times in the Gospels and is used of lepers, pharisees
