Parents, Are We Full of It? I Hope So!

I was in Starbucks the other day and when they called out my grade non-fat one pump vanilla latte I went a runnin' to get my beverage. However, in my "hurry" I not only knocked over my drink but another one as well.

I looked at the person with the saddest/maddest look on their face and asked, "What was it?" "It was a venti chai tea latte!" Now, here is the question.

When I bumped my drink and knocked it over, what came out?
The answer, of course, is what it was full of at the time.

When I bumped and knocked the other drink over, What came out?
The answer, again, is what it was full of at the time.

With that in mind, here is today's question.

When you and I get bumped throughout our day, what comes out?
The answer, of course, is what each of us are full of at the time.

As parents we get bumped, often time by our own children. The answer to the question, “Are we full of it is, YES! We are full of it!” The better question is “What are we full of?” Because when we get bumped today, something will come out.

Look at the following reminders or choices we as we respond to bumps through our day.

ForgetFUL or MindFUL

God will bless you in everything you do, if you listen and obey, and don't just hear and forget. For I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness. James 1:25b CEV & Psalms 26:3 NIV

PainFUL or JoyFUL

Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalms 30:5b NLT

DoubtFUL or FaithFUL

If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking. But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm. It is impossible to please God without faith. James 1:5-6 CEV & Hebrews 11:6 NLTse

FearFUL or PowerFUL

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

HateFUL or ThankFUL

Don't be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:15 CEV & 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

The key to remaining mindful, joyful, faithful, powerful and thankful with our kids is by guarding or keeping our heart in a way that’s healthy. Proverbs 4:23 GW reminds us of this truth, “Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it.

Question:
The last time you were bumped by one of your kids, what came out?
