6 Words That Will Change Your Life

A few weeks ago I was invited to attend the graduation of a good friend of mine. He was attending a four day Impact Training event where the main focus is transformation by discovering, and possibly realigning, the belief systems we have in order to love others as Christ loves us.

My experience at these types of events is a bit skeptical to be honest. I have been to several camps, conferences and events where the high’s are momentary at best and life change is a by-product of a select few. However, I was wrong.

My belief system, based on my past experiences, did not prepare me to still be thinking about this event almost a month after I attended the graduation. I am not exaggerating when I tell you there were six words that changed my life at that graduation. Six words that challenged my belief system, changed my thinking that then impacted my life.

When I walked into the room I noticed two easels up front with large note pads on them. The easel on the left side of the room had the words “Up Until Now” written on them. The easel on the right had the words “From Now On” written on them.

The 6 Words That Will Change Your Life

“Up Until Now”

“From Now On”

Why are these six words so powerful? Because these six words hold the power to a belief system that does away with shame, gives second chances and allows each of us to move forward with confidence.

Today is a new day. “Up Until Now” you have believed that you weren’t enough. You didn’t do enough, say enough or listen enough. You aren’t smart enough, good enough or cute enough. “Up Until Now” your choices have been selfish, secretive and self-serving. ”Up Until Now” you may have been unaware of the next three words. “From Now On.”

“From Now On” there is something new. There is a new day, a new way of thinking, a new awareness. “From Now On” You remember that you are a new creation, a good parent, a good leader. “From Now On” you are, “Confident in this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus!” Philippians 1:6 NASB.

Up Until Now

"It’s not that I’ve already reached the goal or have already completed the course. But I run to win that which Jesus Christ has already won for me. This is what I do: I don’t look back, I lengthen my stride." Philippians 3:12-13a GW

You may not be aware that Paul uses some unique words in the following verses. “I run to win!” Yes I say, awesome! Of course, we should all run to win! But wait a minute. I have “already won.” Take a look.

“Up Until Now” I have been trying my best to win by doing more, being more, giving more. My question is, why? My best will never be enough. Christ has already won for me, and that’s enough!

From Now On

From now on I will run, or, live life in a way knowing that Christ has already won (past tense) for me. I won’t look back, I am enough…you are enough! From now on, “I will run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God’s heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13b-14 GW

Up Until Now you may have been told things that have made you feel inadequate.
From Now On you will know that you are more than adequate in Christ.

Up Until Now you may have felt like you have never been enough.
From Now On you will know that Christ is more than enough.

“This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
The Lord’s loving-kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
Lamentation 3:23 NASBtr
