What are children afraid of and what does God's Word teach about how to overcome a "fear knot" inside? This series covers the eight most common fears of children including fear of heights, snakes, drowning, scary movies, spiders, the dark, bullies and strangers, and will show them how God can help them to loosen their fear knot based on Joshua 1:9.

Overview
Lesson 1: Fear of Snakes
Gideon saw an angel and thought he was going to die, but the Lord told him to calm down. Students will learn that when they are afraid of snakes they can be calm in the face of fear because God will help them.
Lesson 2: Fear of the Dark
Moses told Joshua that he was going to be the one to lead the Israelites into the Promise Land, but not to worry because God would go with him and would never fail him. When afraid of the dark, children can turn on a light and remember that God is always near.
Lesson 3: Fear of Heights
When Gideon asked his army to leave if they were afraid, 22,000 men went home. They missed out on seeing God give their army the victory. Students will learn that if they are afraid of heights, not to run but to take a small step and see what God will do when they have courage and act.
Lesson 4: Fear of Spiders
Gideon was told to tear down his father's altar to another god and build a new altar to the Lord. Students will see that Gideon obeyed and conquered his fears by going at night. They will see that fear will shrink the more you know and plan ahead.
Lesson 5: Fear of Bullies
The Midianites were bullying God's people for years until one day, God told Gideon that he would use Gideon to rescue Israel. Students will learn that God can help them stand up to a bully, take some action steps and have courage.
Lesson 6: Fear of Scary Movies
Jacob had a dream one night about angels going up and down a ladder and woke up to realize that God was with him and wouldn't ever leave him. Children will hear why it is important to think before seeing a movie and to keep their mind on Christ when they are afraid.
Lesson 7: Fear of Strangers
This lesson's Bible story is about a man named Sisera who made an unwise choice and trusted a stranger to help him. Students will learn that it is important to be wise and have a healthy fear of strangers.
Lesson 8: Fear of Drowning
When the boat that Paul was traveling on shipwrecked all of the men panicked, thinking that they were going to drown. Children will see that the best way to deal with the fear of drowning is to learn to swim.
